With such a long and significant history, it's no wonder that Chiang Mai features plenty of museums. But not all are about the history of the city and the Kingdom of Lanna. Chiang Mai offers a great mix of informative, exciting museums for everyone. Throughout Thailand there are temples that honor the 12 Asian Zodiac symbols and this is for those, especially, born in the year of the dog, namely “Wat Ket Karam”.  Wat Ket Karam is a beautiful temple and grounds to walk around and enjoy. It is a good place to relax and contemplate on being in Chiang Mai. Inside the temple, there is a community museum that run by community and community self-support. The founder of this museum is Mr.Jack Bains, he was the son of a Scottish timber company employee and a Burmese mother and a few years ago he died in his 90's. The museum is an amazing collection of beautiful, weird, interesting, bizarre, religious, artistic objects all sort of jumbled together in a wonderful way. If you like the unexpected and beautiful you will not be disappointed. It's a very photogenic place. However, please leave a donation if you can at this community museum. The Warorot Market is a great place to get a feel for the local way of life. The city's biggest market; local attraction; local food and snacks; inexpensive products; Souvenirs. Khao Soi Islam is a popular local Khao Soi. It is run by Muslim Thai’s and serves a variety of Southern Thai dishes that have a Muslim influence. You can taste the yummy dishes of Khao Soi with us!
